When and Why to Contact Your Regional Office

The administrative and service corps of Little League Baseball and Softball is headquartered at Little League International, located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Part of the support structure includes various Regional Headquarters in the United States and throughout the world.

The first and most important component is the local Little League. The league provides its services to the program for the children and community with its leadership and volunteer services. The local league must elect its own officers, finance its program, carry on related functions all while adhering to Little League’s Regulations, Playing Rules, and Operating Policies.

The next component is the district. All the leagues within a district (geographical area) elect a District Administrator. The D.A. and his/her staff serve as liaisons between the various Regional Headquarters and local leagues. They are usually one of the most experienced Little League volunteers in the area and are charged with helping and assisting the local leagues and all volunteers with the administration/operation of the Little League program.

Little League Regional Offices are fully staffed year-round to provide assistance and direction to Little League volunteers. All general questions, written suggestions for improving the rules/regulations, tournament inquiries, rule interpretation requests, and supply orders (if appropriate) can be directed to the appropriate Regional Office with understanding that a proper chain of command should be followed prior to reaching out immediately to the Regional Office. Local league volunteers, parents, managers, coaches and umpires are strongly encouraged to work/engage properly through the local league’s Board of Directors initially and primarily. Then, if needed and desired, discuss any remaining unanswered or unresolved issues/concerns cooperatively with the District Administrator. Finally, discussion/assistance/resolution can be sought by working with the appropriate Regional Office along with the district staff simultaneously.
